How does ChatGPT function, and how does it affect Apple?

AI and Its Impact on Apple Products

All reports indicate that AI is trying to change the way we communicate, work, and interact with the world around us. How does AI function as a GPT chat, and how does it relate to the Apple ecosystem?

How Does AI Impact Apple Products?

Everyone is amazed by the incredible results achieved through technologies such as ChatGPT, which utilize artificial intelligence to analyze and understand information related to questions, providing appropriate answers from existing information on the internet, and even having the ability to rephrase questions. This AI has caused a seismic shift among many users as it accesses personal information to provide answers to user queries. Therefore, this great technological revolution violates one of Apple’s principles: people’s privacy and security.

This may not be the reason why Apple has not yet launched its own AI, as Apple CEO Tim Cook has already confirmed that Apple has its own AI in development, some of which are already integrated into Apple products such as the Apple Watch and iPhone, for example, providing features such as electrocardiograms and AI-narrated audiobooks recently added to their offerings.

In Apple’s organizational chart, John Giannandrea has stated that the company is always working to improve the AI in their research labs. However, this technology can potentially violate one of Apple’s principles – privacy and security of user data – as it can be obtained from any source. This is crucial, and as a result, Apple is developing AI in a different way than other companies.

Due to Apple’s privacy and security policies, the data that AI can collect is extremely limited. This results in a limitation of the amount of information that Apple has, making it difficult for their AI to effectively process and learn, as opposed to other companies such as Amazon and Microsoft who have access to more data. The restrictions on data and security mean that the information available to Apple’s AI is limited, which can present difficulties in processing and learning effectively.

Apple, based in California, has always been committed to its design principles, and users who have been loyal to the bitten apple logo can rest assured that Apple has no intention of changing that policy. While prioritizing the protection of user data, Apple is also striving to maintain its unique design line.

To achieve this, Apple has adopted Federated Learning techniques, which allow AI to learn collaboratively without understanding the privacy of the user. This means that AI can learn from different devices without accessing user data.

Apple also generates synthetic data, which is artificially generated data, rather than accessing information from third-party sources as is the case with AI. Finally, Apple uses Local Data Processing, which means that their AI runs on the user’s own device, ensuring security and avoiding information sharing with remote servers.
