This is why Apple TV+ is unique compared to Disney+

Netflix arrived in Spain six years ago. Since then, many platforms have reached users, including Apple’s streaming service. However, despite both being giants in their respective industries, Apple and Disney take different approaches, and Apple’s content is unique compared to Disney’s. The following explains why.

Similar starting points.

Disney+ and Apple TV+ both entered the market with the goal of slowly growing and becoming a source of income, as they are not the main sources of revenue for either company. Apple has a large technology market that is constantly evolving, while Disney’s main source of income is movie theaters. Once their streaming platforms have had a few months to gain traction, they become places where they can announce series and movies and generate sources of income.

Content

Due to content saturation and the number of existing platforms, users are looking for high-quality, well-crafted stories to enjoy with their families. Disney+ started with a much larger catalog of content than Apple TV+, but Apple has been gradually generating highly diverse and well-crafted content for all types of viewers. Their content is unique and exclusive.

Disney+ is not entirely like that. Many of their series are platform-exclusive, and many are created through the purchase of rights to content such as The Simpsons or the Star Wars series that were generated before the acquisition, although many of them are animated. However, they have not reached the product level of Apple.

Price.

Both platforms offer a free trial period. Apple offers it for free to users with a Unidays account, and for a few months free when a new device is purchased from the bitten apple, allowing users to discover the benefits of the platform.

After that, Apple TV+ is available for €4.99 per month, while Disney+ is available for €8.99 per month. Subscribing for €89.99 saves you 7 months and allows for up to a total of 4 users, but only up to 2 devices can be connected simultaneously. Apple’s offer, Apple One, is a service that bundles together key Apple services, and can save you around €25-30 depending on the type of subscription selected. By using Apple One, you can save money if you have Apple’s ecosystem, which is a very interesting point.

User experience is probably the only point where Disney+ has a clear advantage over Apple TV+. This is due to the fact that the Apple TV+ app is slightly different from other platforms, as it seems to mix available series and movies. On the other hand, Disney organizes their entire catalog very well, with movies divided into segments like Star Wars, Marvel, Pixar, and a more exclusive section for adults, called Star. However, with all of Apple TV+’s content and third-party platform content accessible from a single application, Apple’s unique classification isn’t bad if you know the interface.

As a conclusion, Apple has succeeded in gradually creating a platform of top-quality original content, and has been receiving positive reviews from users and professional movie critics alike, as evidenced by the awards its productions have received.
